The Loire Valley sits in the centre of France in both the Pays de la Loire and the Centre-Val de Loire. It has long been a popular holiday destination with travellers coming to taste wine at the vineyards, eat delicious French cuisine, visit the pretty and historic towns and villages, and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, and mountain biking. It's such an important region of France, it's been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are plenty of hotels and guest houses to stay in the region, but one of the best ways to experience the spectacular countryside is by camping.

Camping La Roche Posay Vacances is located in the heart of the Loire Valley, close to a beautiful chateau, the vineyards of the region, the zoo, and a theme park. It's also close to the village of Angles-sur-l'Anglin which has been voted as the 11th prettiest village in the country. It's been awarded 4 stars for excellence, and is clean and well maintained with plenty of amenities including a large swimming pool with slides.

Pitches

Onsite, there are 120 grassy pitches, all measuring in at a generous 100 sqaure metres. Some of them are located are natural shade, while others are sunny. All the pitches have an electrical hook up, and some even have water and drainage. They are available for tents, motorhomes, and caravans with cars. They are available for 6 people, and an extra tent is permitted as well as pets. Camp fires are not allowed, but you can use a barbecue to cook up dinner, should you wish.

If you don't want to stay in a tent or caravan, the campsite does have a range of comfortable permanent accommodation available.

Cottage 2 bedrooms

This cottage is big measuring it at around 30 square metres. The town bedrooms have a double and twin beds, make it perfect for a family. It also features a private en suite bathroom with hot showers, a fully equipped kitchen, and a terrace with garden furniture and a parasol.

Cottage 2 bedrooms with half covered deck

This cottages are built in a shady area and are slightly smaller at 29 square metres, but still offer two bedrooms with double and twin beds, a private bathroom with shower, and a fully equipped kitchen. The main difference is the terrace is covered, proving welcome shade in the summer heat. There is also a flat screen television on the wall in case of bad weather! Pets are welcome, so feel free to bring your canines!

Cottage VIP 2 bedrooms

The large VIP cottages are large at over 34 square metres and features two bedrooms with double and single beds, two private bathrooms with hot showers, a fully equipped dishwater than even has a dishwasher, and a half covered terrace with table and chair, parasol, and sun loungers.

Cottage 3 bedrooms

These cottages are situated in a lovely shaded area of the park and come with 3 bedrooms in the 30 square metre space. These include double, twin, and bunk beds, private bathrooms with showers, fully equipped kitchens, and covered terraces with outdoor furniture. During the summer, the cottage is air conditioned, and during the winter, its heated and cozy. All have wonderful views across the countryside.

Premium Cottage 3 bedrooms

The premium cottages are perfect for a luxurious getaway. In the 32 square metre space, there are 3 large bedrooms with double and twin beds, a huge shower room with a separate toilet, a fully equipped kitchen along with a dishwasher, and a large covered deck with sun loungers, and outdoor furniture. Here, guests can cook up dinner on the barbecue and enjoy the views.

Coco Sweet 2 bedrooms

This quirky accommodation is smaller than the rest of the cottages, but a lovely place to stay nonetheless. Inside, you'll find one bedroom with double bed, and a further two people can stay on pull out sofa beds in the living area. The kitchenette is small but has everything you need to make meals and there is a terrace with outside furniture and sun loungers. Pets are always welcome, do bring your dogs!

There is plenty on offer at the park to keep both adults and kids busy all day long. Most notably is the large outdoor swimming pools and waterpark which come complete with thrilling slides, a shallow children's pool which has a variety of water games, and a hot tub for adults. There is also a covered pool which is heated throughout the season. Guests can also relax on sun loungers located around the sunny terraced area of the pool. During the summer months, the staff organize activities like aquaerobics and water polo competitions to get guests involved. Other free activities available at the camp include a children's play area, a sports fields and courts for basketball, football, and beach volleyball. There is a ping pong table and a boules court (a French game of throwing steel balls a close to a central ball), and a aquagym. The nearby river offer a wealth of activities. Cool off with refreshing dips, take to the water on canoes, take walks along the banks to look for ducks, deer, and beavers, glide on paddle boards, and go fishing for perch, pike, and roach. Paid activities nearby include bike rentals, and go karts.

The staff at the campsite are excellent and between early July and the end of August organize activities for guests. There is a mini club with a range of kids' activities, sports tournaments for everyone over 12+, and games, disco, and themed nights.

Golf is popular, and the nearby La Roche-Posay course was designed by the famed French golfer Jean Garaialde. It's an amazing course with grassy fairways, forests of fir and oak, and a natural lake. Beginners and experts can head down to swing your clubs and go for the coveted all in one. The camp site offers a 20% discount at the course for all its guests.
