Goa in April

by Kshaunish Jaini

Like most tourist destinations, Goa functions on a seasonal calendar, which more or less coincides with the climate changes that occur here through the year. Therefore, the Goan winter and spring become peak tourist seasons, while the summers and the monsoons witness a dip in the tourism business. But for travellers looking to immerse themselves in Goan life, there isn’t much point playing by the rules of the tourist seasons. The bottomline is always that Goa is as beautiful and welcoming as ever throughout the year. In fact, visiting Goa at different times of the year will actually be very different experiences - everything from the colours, sights and sounds to the places you can visit and activities that you can partake in change according to the time of the year. And there is always something happening.

In this article we are going to provide some information about visiting Goa in the month of April. This includes the weather you can expect in this month, the places you must visit, the activities that you can partake in and exclusive festivities that take place in Goa during the month.

Goa - Weather in April

April marks the beginning of summer in the Goan calendar. The temperature steadily rises through the month of March, settling at the average of around 29 degrees Celsius in April. To add to that, the proximity to the sea means that the weather starts becoming more and more humid, with the average humidity recorded in the month being somewhere around the 60% mark, with fluctuations on either side. As a result, April becomes an out and out sunny month and the best time to head to the nearest beach and spend the day in your swimwear. In fact, it is not unusual to witness the odd rainy day or two in April, a welcome prospect when it comes to beating the heat.

The earth tends to cool off during the nights in April, with the temperature often going below a pleasant 25 degrees Celsius during this time. Nights, as a result, are balmy and become another excuse to be spent at the seaside. The sea water temperature too is 29 degrees Celsius, making it perfect for swimming and other watersports.

Things to do in Goa in April

All in all, April is a month packed with activities for the curious traveller. If you are able to stay for a longer period of time, do not miss the carnival that travels through Goa in March, and extend your stay to enjoy April to its fullest.
