Centara Grand Island Resort and Spa (4.5 star)

Built in 2009 this luxury resort can be found on the South Ari Atoll and is simply perfect for families; or those seeking a slightly more active holiday.

As the name suggests, this resort also incorporates an impressive spa which offers a wide range of treatments and massages – perfect for mum whilst the kids make new friends over one of the many supervised activities you’ll find here. 

With lots to see and do, including numerous watersports, the Centara makes for a lively resort whilst still retaining a truly laid back feel for those who simply want to relax.

Kuredu Island Resort and Spa (4 star)

Stretching just over a mile in length, the Kuredu is one of the largest resorts in the Maldives and is located on the Lhaviyani.

The resort itself is simply perfect for families since it offers lots of activities including a football field, golf course, three swimming pools and luxurious spa area. 

For guests wanting to sample culinary delights from across the globe the resort has 14 restaurants and bars in total, thus appealing to every appetite within the family!

Adaaran Prestige Vadoo (4 star)

Nestled on the South Male Atoll, the Adaaran is renowned for being one of the most luxurious resorts the Maldives has to offer.

With a lovely, intimate feel about it, the island is perfect for both couples and Honeymooners with plenty of photo opportunities around the reef area for those who want to try some snorkeling.

Adaaran Prestige Water Villas (4 star)

Another of the infamous Adaaran resorts can be found on the Raa Atoll.  Because it shares its private island with Adaaran Select Meedhupparu, guests here are able to take advantage of numerous amenities and this often makes it a popular choice for both couples and families alike.

As with the other Adaaran resorts, the personal service here is second to none and the island even has its own butler service to wait on you hand and foot!

Maafushivaru (5 star)

For truly luxurious accommodation then look no further than the Maafushivaru in the South Ari Atoll.  Here you’ll find each villa fully equipped with numerous little luxuries such as espresso machines, minibars, iPod docks and private deck areas.

Marine life here makes it an ideal choice for anyone wanting to explore underwater – in fact, sandbags, crabs and reef sharks certainly aren’t uncommon and you’ll very often be able to see the dolphins at play not too far from the shoreline.

Popular with both couples and Honeymooners alike, the resort has a truly adult feel about it; particularly when night falls and guests can relax by the bar whilst enjoying a laser show across the beautiful beachside infinity pool. 

Kandolhu Maldives (5 star)

Boasting 5 star luxury this resort on the North Ari Atoll features private sundecks and stunning sea views making it a perfect choice for couples, or those wishing to simply relax and enjoy the pure Maldivian sunshine.

Whilst the resort has a nice laid-back feel about it guests are also invited to take advantage of unlimited watersports, free equipment hire for snorkeling and a sunset cruise where sightings of turtles, rays and black-tipped reef sharks certainly aren’t uncommon!

Situated on the North Male Atoll, this relatively new resort offers luxurious accommodation; albeit at very competitive prices, which makes it a great choice for first-time visitors to the Maldives.

Whilst children under the age of 12 aren’t allowed to the resort, the service here is truly exceptional and the three resort bars keep the atmosphere both friendly and fun.

Lily Beach Resort and Spa (5 star)

Perfect for couples and Honeymooners, this luxurious resort can be found on the South Ari Atoll and boasts some fabulous cuisine from across the globe.  The resort also offers some great deals on all-inclusive dining meaning that you can simply kick back, relax and enjoy the dishes served up by some of the most incredible Chefs you’re ever likely to find!

KIHAAD Maldvies (4 star)

Given its beautiful beaches, fantastic food and range of family-friendly amenities, this resort is popular with guests of all ages and is located on a private island in Baa Atoll.

Renowned for its show cooking and fabulous dishes, guests here have their choice of three restaurants on the resort – the Hanifaru Bay for international buffet cuisine, Spices for South Asian cuisine or the Sarong for a taste of Pan Asian delights.

Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa (4.5 star)

Another great hit with families is the Vilamendhoo which is nestled on the South Ari Atoll.  Situated on its own private island the resort has beautiful grounds and plenty of activities to keep the entire family entertained.

As the name suggests, the resort also has its own spa which is perfect for relaxing in after a day spent snorkeling, windsurfing, playing volleyball or badminton!  For children there’s also a games room and a separate, discounted, meal plan.

Olhuveli Beach and Spa Resort (4 star)

For anyone wanting to tickle their tastebuds in style then the Olhuveli is definitely the place to stay!

Situated on the South Male Atoll, this resort not only has plenty of on-site activities aimed at all members of the family but also has 4 very different restaurants to choose from!  The main restaurant, the ‘Sunset’, serves the most amazing international buffet foods whilst a la carte is also available at the Lagoon (for Italian and international dishes), the Plankton Grill (primarily for seafood) and the Four Spices (for Japanese, Indian, Thai and local Maldivian cuisine).

After an evening spent dining the resort then has three bars to relax and unwind in – the beachfront Dhoni bar, the poolside Sunrise Bar and Lagoon Bar (which connects to the restaurant itself).

Being the third oldest resort on the Maldives, the Meeru really does have a little something for everyone since families have their own area of the island whilst couples also have theirs. 

Situated in Meerufenfushi on the North Male Atoll, the resort offers two separate pool and spa areas and the whole ambience is quite upbeat and lively; especially around the 24 hour bar area where guests can sit and relax after a day spent exploring the island and beaches.

Gili Lankanfushi Maldives (5 star)

If you’ve ever fancied your own private butler (and let’s face it, who hasn’t?!) then your very own Mr Friday awaits you on the Gili Lankanfushi which is situated on the North Male Atoll, Kaafu Atoll!

Perhaps little wonder that this particular resort is renowned as being one of the very best on the Maldives, you can expect to find true luxury the very moment you step barefooted onto the island (which is literally true in every sense of the word since shoes are removed as soon as guests get on the boat from the airport!)

However, not only is the service second to none, the food is too.  In fact, the main restaurant on the west side of the island offers daily menus using fresh ingredients from the island’s very own vegetable and herb garden (which you might be lucky enough to see for yourself!).

Dinners here are themed on a nightly basis including the Mediterranean Spice Souk on Fridays and Asian Street Market on Tuesdays!

Perfectly suited for couples, Honeymooners and families, the resort really has to be seen to be believed!

Taj Exotica Resort and Spa (5 star)

Another must for food lovers is the Taj Exotica in Emboodhu Finolhu, South Male Atoll.  Chefs at the resort’s main restaurant, 24 Degrees, truly set you up for the day with the most amazing breakfasts and come the evening you can dine in the Teppanyaki section which hosts live cooking for guests to relax and enjoy.  As you might expect from a 5 star hotel, the food themes change daily although specialise in both Pan Asian and European cuisine.  There’s also a restaurant over the water – The Deep End – which offers ‘farm to plate’ Mediterranean and Western food. Sun, sea and sizzling food.  What could possibly be more perfect?!

Cocoa Island by COMO (5 star)

Nestled on the South Male Atoll, the Cocoa Island is a luxurious resort primarily geared towards couples and Honeymooners.

Conveniently set just 35 minutes from Male, the resort offers truly gorgeous beaches, an infinity pool, on-site reef, spa retreat and excellent a la carte restaurant.

The resort also offers a great base for world class diving and makes for the perfect place to relax, unwind and take a well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
