The ridiculously beautiful Koh Phi Phi islands lies in the Andaman Sea off Thailand’s western coast. Travelers come here for the white sandy beaches, long-tailed boats, tropical jungle and great nightlife. It’s perhaps most famous as the filming location for the movie adaptation of Alex Garland’s award-winning book ‘The Beach’. So, where do you stay when you reach Koh Phi Phi? Here’s our guide to the best of Phi Phi Island Accommodation for all budgets and tastes.

Hangover Hostel - $

It may not be the sleekest of hostels, but there is a reason that the Hangover Hostel has got such high ratings online. Located next to the tsunami shelter, the hostel is just steps away from the beach and ten minutes’ walk away from the pier. Don’t come here looking for a quiet time. The hostel gets pretty lively at night. The hostel has several mixed and female only air conditioned dormitories and hot showers. Tours including hiking, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, and scuba diving can be booked at the reception desk. Prices start from US $20 per night for a dormitory bed.

Phi Phi Cozy Seafront Resort - $

The Phi Phi Cozy Seafront Resort is made up of a series of private wooden cabanas with little terraces which overlook the turquoise ocean below. Each is air conditioned or has a fan as well as private en suite bathrooms. It is one of the best value budget accommodation options on Koh Phi Phi and the perfect place for couples who don’t want to stay in one of the dormitory hostels. Breakfast isn’t included, but there is a restaurant serving Thai meals all day. Prices start form US $20 per night for a private cabana.

Kitty Guest House - $

Kitty Guest House is close to the beach in Hin Poo, around 10 minutes away from the main pier. It’s got a particularly good service, and the staff speak excellent English. Each of the double or twin rooms are air conditioned and include either a balcony or terrace. Double rooms here at particularly good value at just US $21 per night.

Blanco City Hostel - $

This fantastic hostel is located right in the heart of Koh Phi Phi, just minutes away from the beach. The well designed hostel has enough dormitory beds for up to 26 guests, each with a private light and power point. The hostel keeps the party going in the common room, with live music every night from 9 p.m. and cheap drinks. If you’re looking for a lively time and a good place to meet other travelers, this is the place to stay. Those looking for a quiet retreat should probably look elsewhere. Prices start from US $11 per night.

Blanco Beach Bar - $

The Blanco Beach Bar is located right on the beach. This offers spectacular views over the ocean, but the beach parties do tend to get a little noisy. It’s a sociable place to stay with like-minded young travelers. It’s not uncommon to see people playing beer pong and body shots from the cheap bar. They have a range of mixed dorms from 4 bed to 12 bed, all of which are comfortable and air conditioned. Be aware that the hostel is only available to people under 30, which is probably for the best. Prices start from US $15 per night for a dorm bed.

Hotel the Cobble - $

This beautiful little hotel is made up of a series of wooden bungalows nestled on the hillside just a short distance from the beach. It’s not far away from Ton Sai Pier and the bay. Each of the comfortable rooms enjoys air conditioning and private bathrooms. There is a lovely infinity pool fringed by wooden decking overlooking the sea and islands below. All the staff speak English and other languages and can organize tours to the nearby islands or snorkeling excursions. The cost starts from US $70 for a twin or double and US $100 for a private bungalow.

Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort - $

Located on Phi Phi Don island, the hotel is a short distance from Ton Sai Bay and the main pier. As the name suggests, the resort is located on the side of the cliff that overlooks the ocean below. The beach is just a short distance away and the perfect place to while away the afternoon. The rooms are all spacious and some enjoy some fantastic views from the private terrace or balcony. There is an excellent restaurant serving Thai and international cuisine. The swimming pool overlooks the beach. Tours including snorkeling and canoeing trips can be booked from the hotel reception. Prices start from US $150 per night including breakfast.

PP Charlie Beach Resort - $

The PP Charlie Beach Resort gets some fantastic online reviews and is particularly good for couples looking for a quiet retreat. The hotel enjoys a great location overlooking the ocean on Phi Phi Don just a short distance from the pier. Both the standard and deluxe doubles or twins are comfortable, spacious and air conditioned. The hotel’s restaurant serves up meals all day, and the breakfast is particularly good. Spend lazy days in the infinity pool looking out over the gorgeous views. The cost of a double starts at US $70 per night including breakfast.

Phi Phi Andaman Beach Resort - $

Another seriously comfortable hotel located on Phi Phi Don, the Phi Phi Andaman’s rooms all have private balconies. The complex enjoys a large swimming pool with spectacular views down over the Andaman Sea and surrounded by sundecks. There is a separate tour desk offering daily trips around the island, snorkeling and kayaking. Prices for a double room start from US $65 per night.

Phi Phi Nice beach Hotel Hip - $

This trendy new property is one of the hippest places to stay on Phi Phi Don. Located just steps away from the beach, you’re never far away from the lapping waves of the Andaman Sea. Backing the hotel is a large limestone karst covered with lush greenery, making it particularly scenic. All the rooms are large and comfortable, some of which have views over the ocean. The beachfront restaurant and bar serves up some excellent Thai cuisine throughout the day. The lively area of Phi Phi including the Ton Sai Pier, restaurants and nightlife are just a 10 minute walk away. A great place for couples looking for a quiet retreat. Prices start from US $110 a night for a double room.

Zeavola - $

Located in the north of Phi Phi Island along Laem Tong Beach right in the heart of the Phi Phi National Park, the luxurious Zeavola offers complete serenity during your vacation. Each of the 53 rooms and suites are beautifully designed and overlook the sea. Other features include a spa offering a range of treatments, a large outdoor pool, a gym and two restaurants serving up Thai and international cuisine. The hotel is easily reached by private speedboat from Krabi or Phuket. A great option for families or couples. Prices start from US $250 per night.

PP Erawan Palms - $

The gorgeous PP Erawan Palms have 46 beautifully designed rooms and is located in the quieter north of Phi Phi Island, flanked by the ocean on both sides. From the hotel, it is possible to take daily boat trips to nearby Maya Bay, the filming location of the ‘The Beach’. The restaurant crafts some mouth-watering dishes, and some can be enjoyed by candle-light on the beach. The hotel has all the facilities of a modern hotel including a pool, gym and a spa offering Thai massages. Spend lazy days relaxing on the beach, reading under the coconut palms and snorkelling in the turquoise shallow waters. Prices start from US $200 for a private room.

Phuphaya Seaview Resort - $

Nearby the Loh Da Lum Bay Beach, this luxurious resort is modern, but decorated in traditional Thai teak. It’s also close to one of the most scenic viewpoints on the island. The hotel is made up of little bungalows in a forested area which is quiet and away from the party area, making it great for families with children or honeymoon couples. There is a selection of excellent dishes served up at the restaurant. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and multilingual. A great way to while away a week-long vacation. Phi Phi The Beach Resort - $

Nestled on the hillside next to Long Beach, the Phi Phi The Beach Resort offers guests a tranquil spot. They include car and ferry transfers to the hotel in the price. When guests arrive, they can settle into the luxurious teak decorated rooms which look down over the sea from the private bungalow. The tour desk offers daily tours and the onsite restaurant creates some fabulous Thai cuisine. Rent a kayak to explore, sunbath on the beach or grab a cold beer from the bar. Bliss. Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island - $

While the hotel chain Holiday Inn might have a reputation for rather bland hotels around the world, the Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island is seriously luxurious. The contemporary hotel which sits directly on the beach features a large swimming pool and beach day beds. Some of the deluxe rooms have private swimming pools and most have private terraces. Head down to the beachfront bar for a cocktail while looking at the melting sunset. Prices start from US $300 per night for a double room and a little higher for a room with a private pool.
